BRUCE HERBERT PAHALY
Bruce Herbert Pahaly, 64, of The Villages, Fla. and formerly of Clermont and Groveland, passed away Oct. 26, 2009, at his residence. He was born Feb. 4, 1945, in DeKalb, Ill., the son of the late Elwin Frederick Pahaly and Nancy Sevall Pahaly.

A Florida resident since 1968, he was a former school teacher, Lake County deputy sheriff and a retired lieutenant with the Florida Department of Corrections. He was very involved in the Florida Police Olympics, a member of the Florida Crime Council, a retired member of the Central Florida Police Benevolent Association, a member of Villages "Singles" Club and a member of the Moose Lodge.

Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.

RUSSELL C. PEEPLES

    Russell C. Peeples was born near Lake Butler, Florida, September 25, 1872.  His father, Henry C. Peeples, came from George to Florida at the age of twelve, and his mother, Mary E. Peeples, was a native of this state.
    Mr. Peeples received his education at Blair (now Miller) College, and subsequently attended a business college at Macon, Georgia.  He began his business career as a stenographer and bookkeeper with Armour & Company in Macon, Georgia.
    He came to Tavares in 1912, where he was connected with the Sub-Exchange of the Florida Citrus Exchange, which was located at Tavares at that time.  He next joined the Lake Abstract Company, with which he remained for fifteen years, being Secretary and Treasurer of the company during the greater part of this time.  In 1928 he became Manager of the Lake Region Abstract and Title Company, which position he still holds.
    Mr. Peeples has taken a prominent part in municipal affairs of Tavares: he is Vice-President of the City Council and as such is Chairman of Improvement Committee and Chairman of the Police Committee.  He is also Treasurer of the Tavares Chamber of Commerce.
    He is a member of the Kiwanis club and the Masons, and his religious affiliations are with the Baptist Church.
    He was married at Tavares to Nellie Hux, daughter of T. A. Hux, who is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, resident of Tavares.   
    Mr. and Mrs. Peeples have two children: Russell C., Jr., and Henry C.
