Kate Pearson Harrison

1845-1904
Kate Pearson was born November 1845 in Orange Springs, Florida.  Kate's father was Lt. Col. John W. Pearson and her mother was Saran Martha Pierce Warren Pearson.  Colonel Pearson was a strong and influential Florida Soldier.  Much has been written about Col. Pearson as well as his ancestors.  He was twice injured in battles.  He died of these injuries September 1864 on the way home to Orange  Springs.  He was buried in Savannah, Georgia.  There is a memorial to him next to the church he built in Orange Springs.  In this gated church plot are other Pearson family members, including his wife.

Kate kept a diary of her thoughts and information of the Civil War. She kept track of Robert Daniel Harrison  whom she later married.
In June of 1964  Kate Pearson and her sister, Eliza, graduated from Columbia Female College, South Carolina. The graduation catalog I have shows that they majored in French and music.

On  October 12, 1870  Kate and Robert are married in Orange Springs, Florida.  They had seven children.  One was my grandmother, Louise Harrison Davidson.  Robert's death certificate was found in Kate's diary.  Kate and Robert are buried in Lone Oak Cemetery, Leesburg, Florida.

1904 Kate died and is buried in Lone Oak Cemetery, Leesburg, Fl. next to her husband and their other children.  Her stone is no longer visible.

Picture of Kate and Major Robert D.  Harrison at their home on Magnolia Street in Leesburg.  The Harrison house burned down.  Later, the old Breeze Inn restaurant was built in same spot as Harris house.
