We have quite a bit of information on Elizabeth NICHOLS b Oct 14, 1814 NC died after Dec. 1884, possibly in Putnam Co. She was the daughter of Daniel and Sarah RICE HANCHEY. Elizabeth, the widow of William E. Nichols, moved from AL to Florida after the Civil War with some of her children. She is in the 1880 Putnam Co. census listed with her daughter, Sharlot age 29, and Sharlot's children: Olive age 6; Francis age 4; and Ennis, age 7 1/2. We have copies of several old letters in the 1880's written from Palatka, and from several of the children. Children of Elizabeth & William Nichols were: Daniel Nichols b abt 1829; Wesley Nichols b abt 1833; Robert Nichols b abt 1834; Sarah Elizabeth Nichols b abt 1835 (died young?); Mahala Marganna Nichols (YOUNG)(MANNING) 1837-1914; Elijah or Fayetta Nichols b abt 1839; William Henry H. Nichols 1841-1883; John Asberry Nichols 1843-1919; Margaret Nichols (WIGGINS) b abt 1845; Joel L. Nichols b abt 1847; Thomas Francis Ciscero Nichols 1849-1921; Charlotta S. Nichols b abt 1851; Sarah A. M. Nichols (SPARKMAN) b abt 1855. Would love more information as to when Elizabeth died and would love to hear from anyone with connections to these people.

DOWNING, LEWIS posted by Bobby Lewis on Wednesday, January 1, 1997

I am searching for information on Allen (Alan) LEWIS and his wife Annie DOWNING LEWIS who lived in Crescent City from about 1900 to 1913. He came there from someplace in N.C. While in Crescent City they had three children. The oldest being Clyde born in 1910, Henry Grady about 1911, and Laura in 1913. He left FL and moved to Bulloch County GA sometime around 1914. These were my grandparents and this is everything I know about them, they didn't leave much of a trail. Allen was a mean man and his children never asked any questions about where he came from out of fear of him. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
