CARPENTER
George and Betty Carpenter lived in Howey-in-the-Hills around 1920's.
George worked on the sales staff for William J. Howey for the Howey
Company. Any information on this couple would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not actually researching them for genealogy reason, it's because I
just found they were the original owners of our 1926 home in Howey,
that we remodeled and am trying to develop some history on this home.
JOHNSON
Am researching my Johnson Family who came from Live Oak Florida in the
late 1920's or early 1930's. John Vasco Johnson, and wife Julia
(Warren) Johnson, brought there children: Willie Milton, James Carvie,
Seleaner Estelle, Homer, Audrey, Leroy, and Johnny Allen to live in the
Minneola area of Lake County. Willie Milton married Nellie Freeman,
James Carvie married Gracie Raley, Seleaner Estelle married R.C.
Mercer, Homer died at the age of 7, have no information on Audrey,
Leroy married Grace Brenner, and Johnny Allen married Fannie Rutledge.
It is said they lived in the area of Blackstill Lake, East of Minneola.
All of the above named are now deceased, some are buried in Minneola.
John Vasco's dad, John D. Johnson was born in Alabama in 1857, he
married Narcissa Dees in Hamilton County Florida in 1874. They had 4
children: Tom, Walter, Joe and John. Joe died at a very age 2 or 3
years old. Would like to make contact with descendants of any of the

Catherine McCloud, They are said to have been from Leesburg and some of
the first founding families- Not sure if my Hilliard is connected to
Evander Lee or not- Hilliard and Catherine had only one child that I

My G-grandmother was Virginia Lee Taylor, aka Mrs. T. Frank Hefner.
They moved to Clermont in 1923. Mrs. Hefner was a member of Grace
Baptist Church, pastored by reverend O. T. Moncrief. She died in
clermont prior to 1940, burial was in the Clermont cemetery by Edge
funeral home of Clermont. I am looking for any additional info about

Would you have any information on Thomas Ralph Moye, who's daughter
lived there and was married to William G. Fleming and both are buried
at Oak Lawn Memorial Park, Sanford, Fla. He had lived in Quitman, Ga.
but have been unable to fine where he is buried. His wife, daughter,
son-in-law and grandson are all buried in Sanford, Fla. but no grave
for him. I was wondering if by chance he could have been buried there.
I am his niece and working on my family tree and would appreciate any
information you might have.

I would be deeply appreciative for in help in locating any information
on my great-great-grandmother, Louise Tanner. It is my understanding
that she died in Fruitland Park, Florida. And my great-grandmother,
Catherine Adonia Tanner. Both may be buried at the same cemetery but
I'm not sure. Louise Tanner was a former slave from a North or South
Carolina, when she moved to Fruitland Park, it must be sometime between
1865 and 1887. Catherine Tanner, my great-grand mother, must have died
sometime around 1908. Any help would be most appreciated.

I'm requesting infomation on my father's family, The Crawford Family of
Groveland "Stuckey Loop" and in Clermont. My father's name was
Riley Crawford who is decease(May 1993), His parents were Andrew
Crawford (death date unknown) and Willie Mae, who remarried moved
and to Tampa and died in 1986. The African-American Crawford
family is very large in the area descibe above, any information on
possible sibling's, cousins or even a death certificate of Andrew
Crawford would be helpful. My grandmother was 76 at her time of
death(1986) so assuming my grandfather(Andrew) may have been born

I am looking for more information on the parents of my husband's
grandmother. Her name was Flora Belle (Miller) Minnix Elkins. She was
born
05/25/1882 in Wise County, VA and died 09/08/1971 in Wildwood, Sumter
County, FL. She is buried at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg
West,
Lake County, FL. She was buried on 09/11/1971. She was married to Elias
Elkins at the time of her death and I believe he may have died the same
year, maybe even the same day, I'm not sure.
I can't seem to find her on the SSDI under any of her names. She is
listed
with her previous husband James Monroe Minnix on a Family Group Record
on
the LDS Family Search site. It lists her mother as Katherine Wells and
her
father as Aaron Miller. That is the only record I have been able to
find on
her. I was hoping to find out how to get a copy of her death
certificate. I
thought you might be able to help there since she is buried in Lake
County,
FL.

I have been searching for over two years trying to locate my
grandfather's birth record to no avail. He was said to have been born
in Astatula Florida in 1884-5 (Walter S. Cutter). His father was born
in Mass., his mother in Can..(no names) Walter left my grandmother
around 1912 and no one ever saw or heard from him again. His children
all died not knowing their father's roots or where he went. Please can

I do not have a surname yet....we are attempting to research a home on
SR 48. We are told it is what used to be called Richmond Terrace. The
home was built in 1860 and is called "The Oaks. We are told it was
originally the town Doctor's office, it was beside the old post office.
Do you have any historical information on the house?The house in right
on Hwy. 48 about a mile before you get to the intersection of 27 and
48. We are told the mailing address is Okahumpka. We also discovered it
is right next to what used to be the post office. Research tells us it
was the first post office in Lake County. It recently burned

H.W. Mills and his wife Ellen Spinks Mills moved to Lake Co., Fl. late
1800's
early 1900's from Georgia. I have no info where in Ga. according to my
grand
father's death cert. He was born in Lake Co. Fla. His name was Tiller

Mills. He was their son. He and his wife Anna A. Mills moved to Ft
Pierce
Fla. approx. 1926 they had 4 children Anna Viginia Mills, T.A.Mills
jr.,William
Howard Mills and Helen Mills. My g.father T.A. and his wife Anna were
murdered
in Ft. Pierce 1934. At that time all family history was lost.
I recently tract down a copy of my grandparents death certificates. It
lists my grandfather as being born in Lake Co. Fl. His name was Tiller
A. Mills his parents were H.W. Mills and Ellen V. Spinks Mills it gives
no acual age but he was approx. 28 years old at the time of his death.
My grandmother's name was Anna A. Mills no maiden name listed. The news
articles say they moved to Ft.Pierce about 7 years befor they were
murdered. Also mentions they might have moved there from Lake Co. Any
info you could provide or direct me to would be greatly appreciated.
